Although I enjoy driving, looking down the barrel of two 11-hour days on the road makes me yearn at least briefly for a transporter. It would have been cool to have gone to bed last night at home and woken up this morning in San Diego. But alas…
Today’s drive
I’ll be at my BNI meeting this morning, leaving from Derby about 10am. We’re to meet my brother in Edmond for lunch. Then the schlep west on I-40 to our hotel in Albuquerque.
Tomorrow’s drive
As you see, we have a couple options. The higher speed of the all-Interstate route counters the shorter distance of the more direct route. Having driven both, I think the route through Payson (the shorter one) is the prettier of the two. But Roxan mentioned the other day an Italian restaurant we ate at in Flagstaff on the way home from LA last fall, and since it won’t cost us additional time, I’ve elected to plan lunch there.
We expect some scattered rain west of Phoenix, and it’s supposed to be rainy in San Diego Saturday.
