In our car, this is On the Road
From the top:
* phone, doing duty as car monitor
* tablet, left side running gMaps for directions, right side running RadarScope for weather (not that there’s been any to see along our path, but still…)
* Android car radio showing track-me map, speed, etc.
…yeah, that’s kinda how I am. Not that different from my chasing setup, really.
Unfortunately, for the last 90 minutes THIS has been “On the Road.” An injury wreck ahead of us in the construction zone east of Effingham, IL. We’re stuck because traffic is running opposing in the westbound lanes with a barrier wall. There’s just no way to get us or these trucks out of here.
Be that as it may, at least it’s not us in the crash! I’m hoping it wasn’t a fatality…great big cloud of black smoke showing as we came to a stop, two ambulances have been here, one running lights and siren the other only with lights, and two semi-type tow trucks followed the second ambulance in…this all about 20 minutes ago now.
Another case of “there but for the grace of God go I:”
If we had flown in, we would have gone into LaGuardia today. Instead, Roxan has been helping those on the FB cruise forum who have been impacted by the flight delays consider options for making it by sailing time if they had to make alternate arrangements. So far, it sounds like things are getting worked out by the airlines, NCL, and the involved Travel Advisors and people are mostly getting in later today or are rerouting to Philadelphia and taking Amtrak tomorrow…which is the solution I’d have chosen if we were caught up in it all.
So, no dinner with a work friend in Indianapolis tonight, maybe we’ll catch him for lunch on the way home. And we just roll with the changes…one of the side benefits of my obsession with over planning.
